I use a combination of Hypnotherapy and Havening Techniques. These are powerful tools allowing for healing and change of perspective, while giving a safe space to express oneself, in a relaxed and calm manner.
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a natural trance like state, similar to daydreaming, accompanied by good feelings of deep relaxation of mind and body. With hypnosis the brain has increased theta wave activity. In theta, we are withdrawn from the external world and focus our attention inwards.
Hypnotherapy
With hypnotherapy I work with you to identify what thoughts, feeling and behaviours are found to be causing the presenting symptoms.
We also focus on possible positive outcomes (suggestions) which you envision in your life once these presenting symptoms have been healed.
Then through gentle methods of relaxation of both mind and body (hypnotic state) allowing these negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours to be released from your subconscious mind.
This in turn allows for your positively framed suggestion to be placed gently into your subconscious mind. Similar to weeding a garden, first the weeds are removed then the new seeds are planted to replace the weeds.
When undergoing hypnotherapy, you are conscious and aware, but are open to the power of suggestion. You cannot be induced to do anything against your will.
At the end of a session you will feel nice and calm and relaxed.
The Havening Techniques are powerful tools, based on new advances in neuroscience. These are healing modalities designed to help individuals overcome problems that are the consequence of traumatic or stressful life experiences.
Havening is a psycho sensory modality - this means that gentle touch is applied which generates Delta waves. This touch can be either self applied to oneself, or facilitated by a certified Havening Techniques practitioner.

This system is comprised of protocols and methods that use touch as a therapeutic tool we call Havening Touch®. This touch generates a delta wave in the brain which depotentiates or deactivates the neurons in the brain that holds this traumatic experience. This de-traumatises the memory and remove its negative effects from both our psyche and body. This process is client focused and can be content free, this means that details of any event do not have to be disclosed during a session.
